Haha oh yeah, definitely! I agree that Dead Money was extremely frustrating even in Normal difficulty. It’s going to be a bitch in Hardcore mode but will probably be plenty of fun.
Lonesome Road wasn’t too hard except for this one part where I got raped by a bunch of Deathclaws multiple times.
But so far I’m thinking of simply sticking to the main quest throughout this playthrough, and later on I’ll do the DLCs. I don’t want to spend too much time on the side quests and little things like that.
Haven’t figured it out yet. I thought I’d let you guys choose. For now, I’m just trying to survive, getting supplies, pretty showing how to survive in the wasteland while playing Hardcore Mode. However, I do like to side with Yes Man most of the time.
And I decided to make my Courier quite charismatic (I gave him the Lady Killer perk the first time I ranked up), and I’m aiming to have him plenty of speech successes, as well as great skill with energy weapons; don’t care about the normal guns that much.
So I decided this time to upload it to youtube first and then post it here, I figured the full screen capability would be better.
Anyway, in this video I had just finished talking to everyone in Novac and decided to start the “Come Fly With Me” quest that Manny Vargas gives you. The first part was pretty easy.
I noticed that while playing in Hardcore Mode you really need a good strategy when fighting enemies. Since I haven’t explored the whole wasteland yet, my guns and ammo supply are quite limited. And so are the stimpaks and the other chems that I need, like RadAway. The RadAway you see in the video is the first that I was able to find so far so you really have to be careful when going through radiated places and eating radiated food, that’s really going to affect you.
It took me a while but I finally made it. It’s tough because you have to try to avoid the enemies as much as possible since I still don’t have a lot of bullets or guns. I had an encounter with a Deathclaw as well, I took me many revives to finally successfully sneak away from it. That shit was tough.
Now, to talk to everyone in Novac and continue on with the quest.
So after realizing that I needed to get more bullets and more guns in order to complete the first quest (the one where you help out Ringo), I went and started scavenging the wasteland. Eventually I ran out of bullets and decided to take on a radscorpion with a razor blade. It wasn’t very effective.
After a while I gave up and decided to head to Primm. In the middle of my journey I encountered a few fire geckos and one was able to kill me. I had a 9mm pistol -.-
So I finally get to Primm and I’m met up with the convicts there. I get killed and all of a sudden I die with my rifle through my neck. I love it when that happens! Lmao
I did manage to kill the ones that were outside the Vikki and Vance Casino, and now I’m trying to get rid of the ones that are inside Bison Hotel in Primm.
So here’s the first set of screenshots from my New Vegas playthrough in Hardcore mode.
For this file, I decided to have my courier have a certain set of skills. I decided to name him Mr. Solo based on Han Solo from Star Wars. This courier will be charismatic and charming as fuck, and his preferred weapons will be energy guns. He’ll have some repair skills as well so that he can repair his equipment.
If you guys want to suggest other things, feel free :)
So if you’ve stumbled upon this post, then thank you for taking the time in reading. I have created this blog to keep track of my Hardcore Playthrough on New Vegas in Hardcore Mode. I thought some people would enjoy it as well.
I’ll mostly post screenshots of the playthrough with a little documentation in the description. But if I have time I just might post a few videos as well, if I think they’re entertaining enough.
So far I haven’t done any quests because I don’t have any bullets to fight. I’ll explain more in my next post, which will be in a few minutes.
Hello, fellow Couriers. This is my blog where I will be posting my progress while playing Fallout: New Vegas in Hardcore Mode and Very Hard difficulty. If you're interested in knowing what other limitations I have put myself in order to make the game more challenging and fun, click here.
